SFTMA Flood Relief Programme

The closing of 2021 had been a challenging one for some people. The flood victims within several states in Malaysia were one of the less fortunate ones to experience a challenging time.
The Selangor and Federal Territory Malayalee Association (SFTMA) carried out the Sri Muda Flood Relief Programme in support of 35 families of students from the Emerald Tamil School, Shah Alam on Feb. 2nd, 2022. The event was held at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple Hall, Shah Alam from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A total of 80 people were in attendance. Taking the current pandemic situation into consideration, SOP was observed in carrying out this event – with each family represented by a parent and the child who attended Emerald Tamil School in Sri Muda, Shah Alam.
SFTMA worked closely with the Emerald Tamil School representatives (Headmistress, Teachers and the PTA Chairperson) in identifying the families that were most impacted by the recent floods. Donations were raised from committee members, members, friends and well-wishers. We are grateful to all our donors for their generous donations and support. Funds collected amounted to RM18,070. We also thank the Temple Management for allowing us to use their premises for the event.
Preloved clothes were also made available for anyone who was interested to take home some. Each of the identified families was presented with essential items and RM500 cash each. After the presentation ceremony a light hi-tea was organized for all present.
We, SFTMA is once again fortunate to have been able to bring the much needed support and cheer to the 35 deserving families through this meaningful programme.
