SFTMA ONASADHYA 2015
Onam is the biggest and most auspicious festival celebrated in Kerala for over a period of ten days with elaborate vegetarian luncheons. We, at the Selangor & Federal Territory Malayalee Association (SFTMA), hosted our Annual Onasadhya on Sunday, 30th August 2015 at the NUPW Hall, Petaling Jaya. It was indeed a grand celebration with a total of approximately 500 people in attendance. Many, including children came dressed in traditional attires, set the festive mood at the event.
The highlight of the event, the ‘Sadhya’ included rice, served along with traditional Malayalee dishes such as aviyal, kalan, elisheri, cabbage thoran, pachadi, ingi puli, pappadam, banana chips, cheru pairu curry, sambar and pulisheri. The traditional dessert, Payasam, was served at the end of the meal.
Moreover, Onasadhya Guests were treated to a mesmerizing Kathakali dance performance by renowned Artists from Kerala, Mr. Sri Kalamandalam Venkittaraman and his disciple Nadanam Artist, Miss Arya.
A much elaborate cultural performance with both local and Kerala artists, will be held on Saturday, 19th September at our Onam Cultural Nite 2015 at the PJ Civic Centre, Petaling Jaya. This event will start with hi-tea at 6pm followed by cultural show at 7.30pm. We sincerely urge you to mark your diary and not to miss this forthcoming event !
