The Selangor and Federal Territory Malayalee Association (SFTMA) recently held their Onam Celebration at the SRJK (C) Sungai Way Hall in Petaling Jaya.
More than 500 members, including special guests, family and friends, converged dressed in traditional mundu and colourful Kerala kasava cotton saris. Members and friends were treated to cultural performances by the SFTMA youth, while savouring the grand feast equated to the harvest festival called ‘Onasadhya’. This year, the youth of SFTMA showcased their skills in serving our guests.
Present at the event were guest of honour Datuk Suseela Menon, President of All Malaysia Malayalee Association (AMMA) as well as special guests, Datuk Rahmah Abdul Hamid, President of Pan-Pacific & South-East Asia Women’s Association (PPSEAWA), celebrity Datin Sri Shaila Nair, Mr. Mohan Ramakrishnan, Deputy President of AMMA and wife, Dr. Anntelenna Devasy, Mr. Ravindranath G Menon, Immediate Past President of SFTMA, Mr. JP Menon, Past President of SFTMA and his wife, Mdm Krishnanjali Menon.
At the event, Raman Nair Hachoodan, a Malaysian Malayalee who scaled the peak of Mount Everest on his first attempt was acknowledged and recognised for his achievement with a token of appreciation and draped with a shawl.
